The White Swan re- opens as Christmas Shop
The White Swan in St Albans re-opened this week but with strict restrictions in place, their pub wasn’t able to open as they would have liked. However, with a need to generate an income at one of their busiest times of year they decided they would open as a takeaway service and have also created a wonderful Christmas Shop! On their Facebook page they made the following announcement: First of all, we would like to say thank you for the continued support during the second lockdown, we appreciate it more than you could possibly imagine! As many of you may know, we are a primarily “Wet led” Pub, which means the vast majority of our turnover comes from alcohol sales, although we do serve food and have a fully equipped (but very small) kitchen, it’s simply not possible for us to serve everyone. Pubs and restaurants are currently closed across England, apart from for takeaways. What are you allowed to do in each tier? Why is so much of the North and Midlands in the top tier? Has England’s lockdown worked? The prime minister’s official spokesman, asked how long drinkers can stay in a pub after buying a meal, said: “We’ve been clear that, in tier two I believe, that you need to have a substantial meal if ordering any alcohol and it remains the case that the guidance says that once the meal is finished, it is at that point [you have to leave].” When the current lockdown ends, the rules will change according to where you live. In tier two regions, pubs and restaurants must shut at 23:00 GMT, with last orders an hour earlier. You can only socialise inside with people you […]
